Driving while license suspended
License Suspensions
If you receive notice from the Department of Licensing (DOL) that they are planning on suspending your license, you need to act right away. Preventing a suspension is much easier and less expensive than fighting a Driving While License Suspended ticket.
Most often, these notices are the result of either not responding to a ticket or not paying a fine that has been imposed. Typically, if you take care of the fine then the Department of Licensing will stop the suspension process. You will want to contact DOL and verify why your license is being suspended and what you can do about it. You can now check your license status online. If you run into trouble, call or email me and I can walk you through the process.
Problems getting notice
There can be several reasons why you don t get notice from the Department of Licensing (DOL). The most common problem I see is when people fail to change their address with the Department after moving. If you are like most people, when you move you fill out the change of address card with the Post Office. This does not, however, cause your mail to be forwarded if it is mailed "bulk mail." Since the DOL mails its notices "Bulk Mail" you may never receive it. The law typically requires DOL to mail notices, it does not require that you actually receive the notices.
